Lapis lazuli is considered a rock, not a mineral: whereas a mineral has only one constituent, lapis lazuli is formed from more than one mineral (sodium, aluminium, silicon, oxygen, sulfur, and chloride are the primary ingredients). Lapis lazuli is regarded by many people around the world as the stone of friendship and truth. The blue stone is said to encourage harmony in relationships and help its wearer to be authentic and give his or her opinion openly. It emits a strong, typical smell when ground and can easily break under pressure.
Epinephrine is a "fight or flight" hormone, and plays a central role in the short-term stress reaction. It is released from the adrenal glands when danger threatens or in an emergency. Also known as adrenalin, epinephrine signals the heart to pump harder, increasing blood pressure, opening airways in the lungs, narrowing blood vessels in the skin and intestine to increase blood flow to major muscle groups, and performing other functions to enable the body to fight or run when encountering a perceived threat. Epinephrine is also increased during Eustress (positive stressors – such as great sex, roller coaster rides, extreme challenges, childbirth, religious ecstasy).
